Alex is a part-time PhD student studying at the University of Birmingham in collaboration with Ultromics, a medical technology company leveraging artificial intelligence to automate the analysis of echocardiograms. His research interests are in combining classical image registration methods with deep learning, and the applications of these techniques in cardiac imaging. He previously studied for his Masters in Computer Science at the University of Birmingham where he worked with Dr Jinming Duan on his summer project titled Nesterov Accelerated ADMM for Fast Diffeomorphic Image Registration, which was presented at MICCAI 2021.
